Success
for children
An important benefit of children
using a trampoline is the development of balance. Bouncing on a
trampoline can even carry over into the academic success of a child
because a child's ability to learn is somewhat dependent on his control
of movement. The consistent movement and rhythm are important aspects in
developing both the child's mind and body. Many experts in child
development believe that consistent recreation on a trampoline ensures
that children achieve success in the classroom. One reason for this is
that the trampoline helps develop muscle control and coordination which,
in turn, assures visual and body control, which are necessary elements
for success in
the classroom.
When it comes to coordination of the entire body, a trampoline is one of
the best tools available. While practicing on a trampoline a child
improves his sense of balance because when a child jumps from a
trampoline, he must find different centers of gravity while jumping in
order to stay on the surface of the trampoline. Studies have shown that
trampoline activity is more beneficial for children in their development
of total coordination than riding bicycles or tricycles. Jumping on a
trampoline is great for children who have poor coordination because it
helps them develop better body balance. It's not difficult to achieve
proper balance when standing on solid ground, but when jumping in the
air from the surface of a trampoline, the
bouncer must locate new and changing centers of gravity. This enables
the bouncer to perfect his abilities and competence in sustaining proper
balance.
Rhythm is also an important tool which can be learned by jumping on a
trampoline. You need to sustain a stable body rhythm while jumping and
few activities demand such a constant rhythm.
Some schools have implemented trampoline programs to assist children
with coordination and development. Those schools have reported positive
results in attentiveness, better posture and better muscle control.
Almost all children, whether those with good coordination or poor
coordination benefit from the trampoline program. The benefits even
carry over to other physical activity. And, of course, what child
wouldn't enjoy bouncing on a trampoline!
Some schools for autistic children include indoor mini trampolines in
their academic and physical education program. Teachers have discovered
that the program helped the children turn their energy into productive
activities and even more positive behaviors and they were able to settle
down. Many such children may be hesitant to engage in physical
activities. However, the
trampoline is fun for nearly all children and is thought of by most
children to be something fun to play on rather than a sports activity.
When children jump on a trampoline, they feel invigorated and can even
feel inspired. This, in turn, helps them to become more brave and gain
self-assurance. Jumping on a trampoline is fairly easy and makes
children experience a degree of accomplishment. Children may use their
imagination to think of new ways to jump or create games by themselves
or with friends. What a fun way for a child to exert energy and gain new
skills and self-confidence.
